Marriage records like Marin County Marriage Records are some of the most requested for records from the government owing to the fact that they are the official records of the government in regards to marriage, and as such, they are the best evidence that one could provide in order to prove the fact of the marriage. One may ask why there image is a need to prove the fact of the marriage and the answer to that lies in the fact that marriage is something that would change the status of the person who had gotten married and such change of status and its associated rights and privileges that it would carry would bind the person no matter where the person may go in his or her life.

It is for this reason that the fact that a person is married would follow the person no matter where the person may go, and along with that fact would be the rights and privileges that are associated with that marriage, though most people would mostly think that it would be the limitations imposed by the marriage, such as the fact that a married person cannot get married to another person not his or her spouse, that would follow the person no matter where the person may go. This, of course, is also true, but it is not just those limitations that would follow the person who is married.

As the official records of the government, the marriage records are afforded the presumption of regularity such that the contents of the records are presumed to be true and accurate at all times. The person presenting copies of the records need not prove that the contents of the records are true and accurate, but note that because of the fact that the presumption applies only if the records were obtained from the proper sources, while there is no need to prove that the contents of the records are accurate, there is still the need to prove that the records were obtained from the proper sources, hence, the party would often be asked to do that before the tribunal would accept the records.

Marriage records may be requested from the state or national level and the county or local level, though most requests are made at the local level because there would be fewer records here that would have to be checked. Note, however, that the reason that there are fewer records at the local level would be because of the fact that the local level sources only keep copies of records for marriages that were celebrated within their jurisdiction. The usual method for making the request would depend on the office where the request would be made, though it would usually be in person or through the mail.

Marin County Marriage License Records could also be obtained online through the use of online databases. These databases could provide information that would be roughly the same as that which could be found from the official sources, but do note that they are not official sources for the presumption of regularity to apply to them.
